What French Riviera Tours Cost: Prices, On-Board Fees and What the Fare Covers

Tours on this coast run from $58 to well over $400 a person, and the number on the card is not always the number you pay. Some are priced per person, some per group, and some boats add €300 on board. This guide sets out the bands, the price per hour, what the fare leaves out, and where the French Riviera private tours are worth it.

What are the price bands?

The prices are the US dollar fares shown on 26 September 2026. They move with the date you pick, so treat them as a guide to the band, not a quote.

What does a road day cost, and what does it leave out?

A long road day costs $85 to $149 a person. For that you get the driver-guide, the minivan, pickup in Nice and, on most, the free perfume-factory visit. You do not get lunch: no road day includes it. You do not get a paid interior either.

The price gap between long days is about the group and the stops, not the towns. The small-group day at $110 caps at eight and gives you about seven hours in the towns. The one-day tour at $85 prints no group cap and no stop times.

Is a half day better value per hour?

Usually not; the long days cost less per hour. Here is the fare divided by the hours on the card.

Per hour is not the whole story. A half day leaves your afternoon free, and a long day spends some of its hours on the road.

How are the boats priced: a seat, or the whole boat?

The shared boats from Nice sell a seat: $62 to $87 a person. The whole boats sell the boat, but they print it two ways. The Cannes boat charges $476 for up to eleven. The self-drive boat from Monaco charges $158 for up to four. The solar boat, the day-cruiser and the boat from Port Silva Maris print a price per person, on a scale that changes with your group size.

For a full Cannes boat, that is $43 a head before the captain's fee; for four people it is $119 a head. Always price your exact group on the booking page.

What is the €300 you pay on board?

Some private boats add €300 per booking on top of the online price. On the Cannes boat it pays for the captain and service. On the day-cruiser from Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat it pays for the captain and fuel, at check-in on board. On the boat from Port Silva Maris it is listed as local fees.

It is paid per booking, not per person. For a group of eight it adds under €40 a head; for two it adds €150 each. Every price on our pages prints it beside the fare, so you are not surprised at the quay.

How are private cars priced?

By the person, on a scale that falls as your group grows, for up to four. The cars cost $180 to $191 a person at the rate shown. For two, a shared small-group day costs a fraction of that. Why do private tours cost so much more?

Because you pay for the vehicle and the driver whether you are one or four. On a shared day eight people split that cost; in a private car, your party does. At the rates shown, four seats on the small-group long day cost $441, and four on the private car to the western coast $766. The private price falls per head as the group grows, so price your exact party before you compare.

On the boats, the captain and the fuel are part of it. Some whole boats bill those as the €300 on board, and some fold them into the fare.

What will you pay at the door?

No fare here includes a paid interior. If you want to go inside, these are the doors.

Most road-day stops are too short for a museum. If a door matters to you, go on your own day and give it the time.

What do the food and wine tours feed you?

The Cannes food walk is a four-course lunch across at least four stops, with water and local wine for over-18s. The Menton walk includes lunch. The tasting room pours eight wines with cheese and snacks. The vineyard ride pours at the estate but leaves lunch and water out. On a road day, budget for lunch at a stop.

Are tips expected?

No fare includes one, and several listings name gratuities as not included. Tip as you would at home, if the guide earned it.

What does the train cost instead?

A day to Monaco on your own costs €12.20 in train fares. Add the palace at €13 and the Oceanographic Museum at €22.50, and the day comes to €47.70 with both doors paid. A half-day tour costs more and enters neither, but it adds the village above the sea, a guide and the driving.

Menton costs €7.70 each way. The bus up to the village above the sea is covered by a €2.50 Ticket Azur with a connection. The abbey's ferry to Saint-Honorat costs €19.50 return.

What does a family of four pay?

At the adult fares shown, four seats on the small-group long day cost $441, and on the small-group half day $301. Four places on the sunset boat cost $250. The Cannes boat costs $476 for the whole boat, plus €300 on board, whether you are four or eleven.

Several listings discount children, and the booking page shows the child fare when you enter your party. Check it before you compare: for a family, it can reorder the list.

Are there extra charges on the self-drive tours?

The open-top electric car writes a €500 damage deposit into its contract, though it is not charged up front. The mini electric car may ask for a €500 deposit too. On the self-drive boat from Monaco, the paddleboard, the brunch box and the barbecue all cost extra.

Where is the value?

At the bottom, the open-top car at $58 gives you two hours at the wheel with a guide. In the middle, the half-day from $75 covers Monaco and the village above it with pickup. For a family, the whole boat from Cannes spreads one price across up to eleven. For the most towns per dollar, the long days at $85 to $110 are hard to beat.

When should you book?

For summer, early: the small minivans and the shared boats carry the fewest seats. Each booking here refunds in full up to 24 hours ahead, so booking early costs you nothing.
